Iceland Air Getting New Airbus Airplanes To Upgrade Tourist Comfort
New State of the Art A321 Aircraft Will Deliver Better Traveler Experience
Iceland Air is adding its first Airbus aircraft to its fleet in November, a 187 seat state-of-the-art A321 delivering the utmost in comfort for Iceland travelers
"This is the first Airbus jet that Icelandair has received since the beginning, and the A321 aircraft type will replace the Boeing 757s that have connected Iceland to the rest of the world for decades. For the time being, Icelandair will use the Airbus A321 LR (LR stands for Long Range), but the agreement with Airbus stipulates the purchase of up to 25 extra long-range Airbus A321 XLR (Extra Long Range) aircraft. Delivery of the XLR aircraft will begin in 2029. With these new Airbus aircraft that Icelandair will use later in the year, various innovations will be introduced to increase passenger comfort, for example a more powerful entertainment system with larger screens and a new type of seats," said Icelandair's Communications Director Guðni Sigurðsson.
Four Airbus A321 LR will be added to Icelandair's fleet by the summer of 2025.
